General
The DDE and OPC Servers appear, on the surface, very similar.
They, however, employ different protocols with different features.
Servers are used to make local application data and key values
available in real time to other applications in perhaps widely
different locations. The EasyView Real-Time
Client is a good choice when you want to monitor your process at
one or several separated locations.
DDE Server
An EasyView DDE Server will make real-time data available to
other applications. Microsoft Excel is one example.
OPC Server
OPC utilizes the latest Microsoft OLE and COM technology to transfer
large amounts of data with more robust error reporting and time
stamping. Additionally, OPC servers can provide information to
client applications across your entire plant on your local network
or across the entire globe via the Internet.
